"Homeless & Poverty stricken people are NOT just numbers & statistics for funding purposes - they count as human beings! The multiple errors in Human Services must cease across the Nation...and especially in Chittenden County VT." ~Adrienne G, The Harbor Place Stories Project

Our New Podcast Weblog !!

We WILL tell our Story - and that of others regarding Human Rights, Civil Rights, Disability Rights violations in Homelessness & Poverty in VT!

At this time, it is very important to note that: The very *local* & biased media of Chittenden County had refused to cover the story of this project -- and that of our unheard of and incredible loss of belongings by "Women Helping Battered Women" (now name changed to Steps to Ending Domestic Violence).

But our story will be told! Only a tiny solace as to what we needlessly had to endure. Well, us and so many others with their own stories...

Our long-awaited Weblog Series will be published very soon! Featuring off-the-cuff episodes about our 10-month ordeal of living & struggling while at Harbor Place in Shelburne Vermont. We will, of course, cover all about the *Harbor Place Stories Project* as well...

Surprisingly, tons of folks are clueless and confused as to what the project is about and many people who are calling and emailing us actually think that we are here on Social Media running as the motel itself! What? Sorry, that mistake is too dumb...people simply have no attention span any longer and that is very sad. On our Facebook, we clearly define the project...here too on our site! So: HELLO. ??? Anyways, thanks for reading and following along - tons of folks are doing this too and we appreciate it :)

More about us & our new Podcast Series

..While facing everyday struggles, embracing hope & battling the cold weather, we begin to hear crazy stories over and over from Guests & other town folk about this great hotel that calls itself a "shelter"..and after time passes, we begin to witness the Mismanagement, Mistreatment, Emotional Abuse, Sexual Harassment..along with many odd & disturbing events all for ourselves..

So, absolutely nutshelling it all: For three months I am proactive and reaching out to repair my life...but it is like pulling teeth, a struggle and a joke! Tons (way too many) help agencies advertise, and collect donation dollars to "help" people, but when telephoned are put-offish and not able to "help"...don't want to..and don't ever outright say it, they simply sugar-coat and dance around words AND love to refer another agency that might, or will, help! One of these is Disability Rights Vermont, we need to find out what the hell they are good for and why they could not/did not want to help us - as tweeted about - we qualified and needed their support!!..(so much more details to share on these topics will all be covered within this project)...

...So finally, after 90days, little-to-no help from Women Helping Women at the time and no help from anywhere else I reached out to... We are facing the streets and I decide that somehow we will, in fact, stay at Harbor Place at approx $900 a month for a basic no-frills room... Every penny, literally down to the coins, went to pay our $29 a night room at 11am check-out time each day! ...About 4months in, late October 2014, the Harbor Place trouble starts for two main reasons that will be covered soon enough as our full story unfolds...

We actually begin to be mistreated & ridiculed by the Harbor Place Property Manager who had been our friend..(he was driven by his side-kick & jealous girlfriend, the so-called case worker from CVOEO)..as with many of other guests, now living at Harbor Place, it is an emotional hardship on top of all else we had already endured and the struggle of existence we faced daily! (I speak for myself and all others who had to deal with this)...

...We are continually denied true services that we watched and learned about others who were receiving..we are inexplicably and unprofessionally treated by the State Housing who refuse to extend our critical voucher for the final 30 days so that we could find an apartment - they deny finally by letter, but previously had ignored my fax, emails, phone calls and voice mails --- four staff members in total!! We were in emergency status, and more than qualified for this standard extension to find an affordable apartment in the impossible housing market that exists in Burlington Vermont and surrounding Chittenden Areas... This denial from them as well as their utter unprofessionalism is unacceptable as it is unbelievable...

...after 5wks straight of living in pure hell, I finally insult the Property Manager  (after he is, yet again rude, loud and overbearing, this time not in person but by phone and he hangs up on me when I call him regarding a serious property & safety matter!)..and so, we are now given a 30 ban from the great Harbor Place club!... I believe firmly that he was coerced by his side-kick to give us the notice......(insults to him are not on the rule list, he listed "other" and I tried to appeal......

THEN: Women Helping Battered Women's unlicensed social workers Megan Foster and her cruel and inept supervisor (Kimberly Thevenet) actually keep our belongings in their shelter garage and simply give it all away for donations instead of simply EMAILING me, calling me and work with me to send movers to pick it up -- they both knew exactly what my income was and when I got my monies... they viciously and unprofessionally refuse to email me about how the stuff in their garage - just sitting there among other struggling mom's belongings - was bothering them and them and it was time to remove it. Thousands of dollars in our precious, beloved belongings gone -- all over town to others and the trash!!!...

Our Winter Closet full of things: gone!
...We lost everything we owned, what we had just rebuilt in 9 months for our new home...tons of it all absolutely brand new and never used, tags still on! Tons of priceless photos & documents went to the trash! Two cameras, one brand new, loaded with thousands of memories in precious photos I had taken......thousands of items in home goods for our new life, clothing, keepsakes, mementos, toys, electronic gadgets, smartphones, clothing, winter clothing, accessories, shoes, boots, handbags -- every single thing: gone!

No restitution or admission of wrong-doing has ever happened. Then, or now after all this time... We are planning protests in front of the shelter to spread awareness of our beyond unjust ordeal and loss without reason... Months have passed and we still struggle & suffer the loss of our precious belongings gone forever. Beyond unbelievable.

Well, so much more of our compelling Story - and others - to be on our new Podcast Series entitled:

VTpoverty

Stay tuned for weekly episodes!
